whole crazy toes and heels sock The Crazy Toes & Heels toe-up sock version, starts the toes with the "Aloha" cast-on".  You increase the toes to fit your, or your sock recipients feet, then knit in the round on two circular needles, until you need to start the gusset.

A simple "formula" will let you know when to start the gusset, based on your gauge for your current socks.  Which means you can use the formula for any socks your are creating, from large to small size, from thin to thick yarns.

You then "turn the heel" using an easy "no wrap - no gap" method. (Yes, no warps and yet no gaps!)  The back of the heel is then created utilizing the already built gusset.

After that you are at the ankle of the socks and ready to knit the cuffs. The cuffs are your "sock playground".  Your choices for ribbing and texture are unlimited with so many pattern stitch books available to you out there..

Here are some features of  Crazy Toes & Heels toe-up version...

No heel flap to knit... no gusset stitches to "pick up".

sock to ankle sock knitted to ankle You build a "gusset" then turn the heel.  You are then to the ankle of your sock.  Pattern includes a "slip-stitch" heel for durability, or a plain stockinet stitch heel.

Here are some features of  Crazy Toes & Heels cuff-down version...

I discovered one day that you can make the very same toe-up sock upside-down!  It was so exciting to me that I had to include it in the book.

cuff down version of crazy toes and heels You cast-on using the directions for "casting on an open tube to two circular needles", that are included.  You then knit your cuff of choice.   The cuffs are your "sock playground.  Your choices for ribbing and texture are unlimited with so many "pattern stitch books" available to you. The "gusset" is built at the very same time you work the heel.

After that you are at the middle of your foot!
You work to the toes, then using a simple formula,  you can easily and accurately determine where to start the toe decreases. No more guessing!

Still afraid to Kitchener?  There is another simple toe that is just chinched off. No grafting!

Here are some features of  Crazy Toes & Heels short-row  and  replaceable heel versions.

short row toe for crazy toes and heels "Short row" toe and a "short row" heel. And what would be a sockshort row heel for crazy toes and heels book without these?   Using the  same "no wrap - no  gap" method as for turning the heel, you can have a lovely round toe and a "no gusset" heel .

Both these heels and toes are so much fun in contrasting colors from the sock.
invisible cast on
And with my method for an interesting new simplified "invisible" cast on for your short row  toes, you will not have to struggle to pick up the waiting stitches!

replaceable heel And the "replaceable heel" heel can be worked from either direction, and is later"inserted" after you complete the foot and cuff.

These heels are wonderful for self-patterening yarns and contrasting heels and toes.  And they fit so well.
